The life member of the EBCC and the Box Hill Reporter District Cricket Association helped his team to victory, taking 4-70 from 32 overs.
Being involved in cricket for more then 40 years, the spin bowler played 172 games at Bennettswood Cricket Club before merging with East Burwood.
Currently on 228 games for EBCC, Jones notes that playing with his 25-year-old son has been his motivation over the past few seasons.
“Playing in the same side as my son has given me a boost to keep going,” Jones said.
“I’ve really enjoyed my time in cricket.”
Over the years Jones has achieved a number of milestones including the McIntosh Shield bowling award as well as taking an overall 950 wickets and notching more than 5000 runs.
Although he has also won four senior premierships at BCC, Jones is still on the search for his first with EBCC.
“Another premiership is definitely at the top of my list,” Jones said.
His contribution to cricket hasn’t been limited to his on-field performances, off-field Jones has been dedicated to helping his club and association through his work on the club’s committee.
“(Mark is) a great player, true gentleman and demonstrates all the wonderful elements of the spirit of cricket in all his actions on and off the field with both team mates and foes,” former coach John Watkin said.
Cricket Victoria would like to congratulate Mark on this achievement and thank him for his involvement in cricket.
