All Abilities Cricket Carnival

In partnership with the City of Casey, The Lord’s Taverners Victoria, Casey-South Melbourne Cricket Club and Cranbourne Cricket Club, the tournament caters for players with an intellectual and/or physical disability.

Having grown immensely since its inception in 2007, this year’s carnival will see 22 teams participate across a variety of levels, with three separate formats being staged.

The Victorian Vikings will be selected at the completion of the Super League matches, the carnival’s top-tier, and announced at the presentation ceremony with members of the selected side given the opportunity to progress through to the Australian All Abilities team.

An entry level ‘no boundaries cricket’ will be staged for people new to sport, while a ’10 over tonk’ will cater for less experienced players.

City of Casey Mayor Amanda Stapledon will be in attendance on the day, who acknowledges the importance of providing sporting events for people of all abilities.

“The City of Casey is committed to creating inclusive sport and recreation opportunities for people of all abilities,” Cr Stapledon said

“The carnival is a wonderful way for people from a range of backgrounds to experience the thrill of participation and competition.

“It is also a fantastic opportunity for local cricket clubs to support a team and become inclusive of people with a disability.

“We are proud to be a part of this great initiative and on behalf of the City of Casey, I thank all those who made the 2013 Cricket Victoria All Abilities State Carnival possible.”

Play will commence at Casey Fields, 160 Berwick Cranbourne Road, Cranbourne East from 9.30am to 4pm on Sunday, February 24, 2013.
