Australian cricket raises $7.8 million for Bushfire Relief this summer

The Bushfire Cricket Bash at CitiPower Centre – Junction Oval on Sunday was part of what has been a remarkably generous effort form Australian cricket in the wake of some of the most devastating bushfires in recent memory.

Total fundraising and donations tally includes:

  • Approximately $3 million to the Australian Red Cross via corporate donations and fundraising across the rebel WBBL, Domain Boxing Day Test, Domain Pink Test, KFC BBL sides and all matches in The Big Appeal.
  • More than $780 thousand to other Bushfire Relief initiatives, including the Salvation Army, Foundation for National Parks and Wildlife, and the South Australian Government Emergency Relief Fund.
  • $4 million to the Community Bushfire Recovery Fund, established to support the many cricket clubs and cricket communities impacted by 2019/20 bushfire emergency re-establish their clubs and get back on their feet. Funds were contributed via:
    • $2 million from Cricket Australia
    • $2 million through the Australian Cricketers’ Association and Cricket Australia’s Grassroots Cricket Fund

Funds will continue to be raised during the upcoming months with the following initiatives:

  • The Big Appeal auction items, available at cricket.com.au/bigappeal
  • Gillette ODI Series in March
  • The CommBank Baggy Green Tour
