Celebrating unity in diversity, the Premier of Victoria, The Hon. Dr Denis Napthine, MP and the Leader of the Opposition Daniel Andrews joined members of parliament and FIAV, including President Vasan Srinivasan, to recognise and celebrate the work of FIAV.
Cricket Victoria (CV) Chief Executive Officer Tony Dodemaide was also in attendance, addressing the audience about the relationship between cricket and the Indian community.
With the Commonwealth Bank Southern Stars World Twenty20 trophies on display, Dodemaide acknowledged the important role that the community has played in helping to make Victoria the number one participation state in Australia.
Embracing CV’s Harmony in Cricket philosophy, cricket is a game for everyone; Dodemaide also noted that 24 new clubs from the Asian migrant community had affiliated in 2013-14.
Over 300 people, including Indian media, enjoyed the night that featured traditional Indian dancing and food as well as showcasing the history of FIAV.
