Reclink welcomes donation from Cricket Victoria

Cricket Victoria donated junior cricket equipment from a past program and traditional cricket equipment. The gear includes plastic and wooden bats, plastic stumps, cones and balls.

Reclink is a non-profit organisation based out of Melbourne aimed at improving the lives of under-privileged Australians by providing sport, recreation and arts programs with the goal of achieving socially inclusive, life changing opportunities for its participants.

It delivers more than 100,000 participation opportunities to disadvantaged community members each year across Australia, and the equipment donated will be used to assist with some of these programs including its Super 8’s cricket competitions in Frankston, Heidelberg, Werribee and Geelong and a planned community cricket tournament. Any extra equipment will be given away to families in need.

Reclink Victorian State Manager Chris Lacey explained the positive impact that sporting equipment can have on a community.

“Sport and recreation are powerful tools for social change. This equipment will assist hundreds of people experiencing issues such as homelessness, addiction, mental illness and domestic violence to have a hit of cricket, enjoy the company of others and assist people take their next step in their journey” he said

“Thanks to everyone at Cricket Victoria for your support and we look forward to a continued partnership.”

These programs can include mentorships, vocational training, coaching and even part-time employment opportunities.
