Victorians head to Blind Cricket World Cup

Held in Cape Townn, Chris Bertuch (Mooroolbark), Daniel Pritchard (Tecoma), Hamish Mackenzie (Kooyong), Brett Wilson (Narre Warren)and Brendan Young (Aspendale Gardens) have all been Included in the national squad.

“This is a testament to the growth of the sport in our state and the commitment of all Victorian players,” Victorian Blind Cricket Association President Rod Pritchard said.

“We are stoked that all of the hard work and training has paid off and are proud of our five Victorians.”

In his first selection for Australia, Young noted his excitement in receiving the coveted ‘baggy green’.

“I’m looking forward to wearing the green and gold uniform on the pitch,” Young said.

Australia will compete in the 40-over tournament that takes place every four years alongside and defending champions Pakistan, India, Sri Lanka, England, South Africa and Bangladesh.

Australia will open its campaign against Sri Lanka on Thursday.
