Asia Pacific Rising Stars Trophy

State teammates Nathan Gardiner, Josh Eaton and Adam McDermott have also been selected, with the Australian Indigenous side to square off against East Asia-Pacific, Papua New Guinea and the Australian Combined Services team.

In partnership with the International Cricket Council, Cricket Australia will host the tournament to provide new opportunities for talented athletes from the region to connect with Australian cricket.

The tournament also gives Australia’s best Indigenous cricketers the chance to come together and play in a challenging series that will further assist in the development of their skills.

“It is a great opportunity for all of the boys to showcase their skills in what will be a very competitive week of cricket,” Abbatangelo said.

“It is a great initiative and I am looking forward to seeing our boys perform well and become better players from the experience.”

During the week, each team will play each other twice with the Australian Indigenous team opening its campaign on Monday against the Australian Combined Services team.

The Asia Pacific Rising Stars Trophy will be held in Brisbane from August 12 to 17.
