With the seventh annual Victorian All Abilities Cricket Carnival staged at Casey Fields on Sunday, the day incorporated a number of competitions including the Ten Over Tonk and Super League.
At the completion of the event, Victorian Disability Cricket Advisory committee members, Brain Burke and Bernie O’Connor, selected the Vikings outfit with Doolan becoming the first ever female representative.
“As a selector it was a pleasure to be able to pick the first female Victorian Viking,” Burke said.
“Her all round ability truly showed on the day.”
Having created her own slice of history, the Grampians cricketer was delighted with her selection.
“I was very excited and shocked to make it into the team,” Doolan said.
On the day, a record of number participants (220) saw Barwon take out its fourth Super League title with Casey Mayor Amanda Stapledon and the Lord’s Taverners Ian Crawford also in attendance.
Commonwealth Bank Bushrangers quick Darren Pattinson made his third consecutive appearance at the event, showing his support and lending tips to participants.
“It’s a great thing that Cricket Victoria put on,” Pattinson said.
“It’s just great to see so many people getting the opportunity to get involved in cricket.”
The Victorian Vikings will be presented with their caps during the innings break of tomorrow’s RYOBI One-Day Cup Final when the Bushrangers tackle Queensland at the MCG.
