World Cup ticket prices unveiled

With organisers expecting more than a million people to attend matches in Australia and New Zealand – as well as more than a billion tuning in on television – children’s tickets have been made available for every fixture.

All children’s tickets for the pools stage are $5, while prices for adults start from just $20, meaning that a family of four can attend the World Cup from just $50.

Tickets go on general sale from February 14 next year, but fans who want a chance to buy before then can register at www.cricketworldcup.com to have access to a pre-sale.

Travel packages for the tournament, which runs from February 14 to March 29, 2015, are on sale from today at www.icctravel.net.

“Australia and New Zealand last hosted the tournament in 1992 and since then it has become one of the biggest sporting events in the world,” World Cup 2015 Chief Executive Officer John Harnden said.

“We’ve made sure the event is affordable with more than two thirds of all tickets $50 or under. This is a great opportunity to see the world’s best cricketers right here in our own backyard.

“Fans can buy any combination of tickets and have the flexibility to build their own World Cup experience.”

Along with the Final, the MCG will also host a quarter-final and three pool matches including Australia’s opening fixture of the tournament against England.

A total of 14 cities in Australia and New Zealand will host 49 matches over 44 days.

“We expect high demand for tickets and we’re operating on a first come first served basis. Fans are encouraged to register early so they can get the seats they want,” Mr Harnden said.
