2018 National Cricket Inclusion Championships (NCIC) commence in Geelong

The championships began last year, and it was the first time in Australian sporting history that these three divisions competed as part of the one competition. All three teams that represented Victoria reached the final of the inaugural carnival in 2017, with the intellectual disability team clinching victory against South Australia by 12 runs. The event was such a success that it was selected as a finalist for the 2017 Australian Disability Awards.

In 2018, the competition features 15 teams and over 230 players, with Cricket Victoria being represented in each division. The tournament will take place at various grounds in Geelong, including:

  • Queens Park
  • Jarvis Oval
  • Osbourne Park
  • South Barwon Reserve
  • Burdoo Reserve
  • Walker Oval
  • King Lloyd Reserve
  • Kardinia Park
  • McDonald Reserve
  • Winter Reserve

Cricket fans are invited to attend the public event for free, and will also be able to watch the Grand Final of each division on Friday 26 January via a livestream through Cricket Australia’s Facebook page. You can keep up to date with the latest news, stats videos and more on from the Championships here.

More on NCIC
The NCIC is a fantastic initiative in ensuring people of all abilities and skills can represent their state, proving that Cricket is A Sport for All.  It also provides a clear pathway from grassroots cricket for blind, deaf (and hard of hearing) and those with an intellectual disability).
