J-Pat & the Megastar say thanks

For the third year running, Cricket Australia’s Volunteer Recognition Day will see thousands of volunteers acknowledged for their contribution to cricket clubs, associations and MILO in2CRICKET centres across Australia and for their commitment to growing grassroots cricket in their local community.

With help from the Australian men’s and women’s cricket teams including Pattinson and Lanning, more than 3000 volunteers are expected to be recognised for their efforts.

Each year, over 42,000 volunteers dedicate close to seven million hours of their time to assist in servicing the almost 4,000 cricket clubs across Australia.

This outstanding contribution, together with the 1,400 MILO in2CRICKET volunteers, equates to around $135 million worth of voluntary service.

CA Executive General Manager Game and Market Development Andrew Ingleton said volunteers are the lifeblood of community cricket and it’s important to give them the recognition they deserve.

“The dedication that each and every volunteer has to growing cricket from the ground up is truly inspiring and we want them to know that this does not go unnoticed,” Mr Ingleton said.

“From the coach, to the umpire, to the canteen manager, we’d like to say thank you and acknowledge volunteers as an integral part of Australian Cricket.”
