Volunteers – Every One Counts

With that in mind, there’s no better time to say thanks to the local heroes within your club than during National Volunteer Week.

“Volunteers take on the many roles involved to manage a club, including committee members, kiosk service, coaching, trade and maintenance, social committees and fundraisers, curators, sponsorship and more,” Cricket Victoria Chief Executive Officer Tony Dodemaide said.

“All of Cricket Victoria say thank you to the hundreds of thousands of volunteers around Victoria who keep our great game alive. Thank you for your contribution.”

On an annual basis, Cricket Victoria and Kookaburra offer a Volunteer Recognition Program to say thank you for the efforts of its volunteers and to acknowledge the importance of their work.

Since 2002, more than 9000 club cricket volunteers have been recognized within the program across the following roles:

* Curators and groundskeepers;
* Umpires;
* Kiosk workers;
* Women in Cricket;
* Administrators;
* Coaches; and
* Milo in2CRICKET coordinators.

Cricket would not be the game it is without the support of these grassroots volunteers.

National Volunteer Week will be celebrated from May 14 to 20, 2012.
