Growing Cricket for Girls Fund – Round 2 deadline extended

DEADLINE EXTENSION:

To ensure all Associations and Clubs have the time to submit an application for the Growing Cricket for Girls Fund, Cricket Australia are extending the application deadline to Monday 19 June, 2017.

The fund has assisted over 50 associations and 229 clubs and schools nationally to develop new girls competitions, support existing competitions and develop new girls teams, with competitions run using the revised junior formats.

In Victoria alone, 150 new teams were formed across 19 girls cricket leagues, with funding provided to 17 associations and 107 clubs over the season.

Cricket Victoria General Manager Game and Market Development Rohan O’Neill said: “The growth we’re seeing in the women’s game, right down to the grass roots level, is reflective of the highly successful Women’s Big Bash League and the wonderful club cricket volunteers.

“As a result, we’re not only seeing more girls play cricket, but greater support from the community, as results from the 2016-17 season showed over 80% of parents would recommend cricket as a sport for girls.

“We encourage all clubs to ‘get on board’ and enter girls teams in our Stars and Renegades competitions across the state, which will help continue to grow the women’s game in Victoria.”

Applications for the second round of funding can be found here.
