Participating in the competition for the first time, the combined side defeated the Northern Territory during today’s semi-final to advance to the tournament decider.
After winning the toss and electing to bat, the Invitational XI posted 102, with captain Sally Moylan top-scoring with an unbeaten 52, while Anita Silva added 21.
“It was a great batting performance for the girls, especially from Sally, who leads the team really well,” coach Natalie Schilov said.
Chasing 103, the Invitational XI kept the Northern Territory to 92 after 20 overs, with the Silva twins claiming two wickets and three team run outs.
“We’re really proud of the girls to keep it together under pressure,” Schilov said.
“With girls coming together from different states to gel so well together and advance into the Final in their first year is just amazing.”
The Invitational XI features girls from Victoria, Queensland, Tasmania and the ACT.
Meanwhile, the InfoReady Victorian Imparja Cup team completed the tournament with four wins and two losses, narrowly missing out on a finals berth.
The Final of the Women’s Imparja Cup tournament will take place on Saturday from 2pm.
