The Development Squad is a pathway that gives Indigenous cricketers the opportunity to progress as cricketers and individuals in a professional environment.
“Our Noogal Development Squad is a fantastic program that really gets the most out of our Koori boys and girls,” InfoReady Victorian Imparja Cup captain Ben Abbatangelo said.
The session will provide an opportunity for Indigenous cricketers to develop their skills through elite coaching.
Commonwealth Bank Bushrangers and VicSpirit cricketers will also be in attendance to show their support for the program.
With the 2013-14 season looming, the development session will focus on readying our Indigenous boys and girls.
Last season, the InfoReady Victorian Imparja Cup team performed outstandingly in Alice Springs, missing out on the final by percentage.
Five Victorian girls also featured in an Invitational side that finished runners-up at the tournament.
“We are certainly looking to send up our own girls’ team this year and this training session will be a fantastic opportunity to blood some up and coming girls,” Abbatangelo said.
The Noogal Toengorrt Tani Development Squad session will be held on Wednesday, July 10 at the Bill Lawry Indoor Centre at the MCG.
