Following the completion of the Round-Robin stage of matches Australia remained undefeated across all four divisions, Men’s, Women’s, 21 & Under Women, 21 & Under Men.
Australia’s Open Men have secured a double-chance finishing top of the ladder, and will take on Trans-Tasman rivals New Zealand for a spot in Saturday’ Grand-Final. Victorian representative Justin Perkins has led the way on the road the finals scoring 64 runs across the final three round-robin matches.
The same equation also faces the Australian Open Women’s team who too will meet New Zealand in Friday’s Semi-Final. Of the Victorian players, Nicole Martin again continues to impress with 93 runs and 9 wickets across the tournament. Briony Polkinghorne (70 runs), Laura Shaw (10 wickets) and Danielle Montague (60 runs) have also provided strong support.
In the 21 & Under Women Division Australia have advanced straight through to the Grand Final after finishing top of the ladder.
They will meet the winner Friday’s Preliminary Final between New Zealand and England. From the Victorian representatives, Maddie Wright (77 runs, 11 wickets) and Adelaide Campion (82 runs, 9 wickets) have been influential with bat and ball. While new VicSpirit member Chloe Rafferty (77 runs, 5 wickets) and Amy Jennings (65 runs, 3 wickets) have provided valuable support across the Round-Robin stage.
