Victoria’s Under-21 Females are the best placed team, winning eight of nine pool matches. Maddie Wright has been in outstanding form, and the leading player in the tournament to date with 146 runs, 13 wickets and overall contribution of 11.67.
Victoria’s Lord’s Taverners team are also well placed, sitting in second place (five wins). They were too strong for Western Australia in their final pool match winning 149-41. Chris Anderson and Craig Whitehand have both been key contributors in their success to date.
The Open Women’s quest to win their third consecutive National Championships is back on track after winning their last five matches to sit in second place on the ladder. Danielle Montague (68 runs, 10 wickets) and Adelaide Campion (91 runs, 13 wickets) have led Victoria’s resurgence after dropping their first three matches.
Victoria’s Open Men’s have also recovered after a slow start, winning their last two matches to sit in third place overall. They take on New South Wales in today’s Semi-Final, where the experienced trio of Clive Rose, Trent Lawford and Justin Perkins will look to lead the team with bat and ball.
Victoria’s 21 & Under Boys are out of the race for finals, but managed to secure hard fought victories over ACT and New South Wales. Jacob Carruthers has been the team’s leading player with 75 runs and 6 wickets from the pool matches.
Following last week’s Junior Championships, Victoria’s strongest performers have been rewarded with selection in the All-Star teams.
