Vics ready for finals

Today, the Under-14 boys defeated second placed Western Australia comfortably to consolidate top spot.

The highlight of the match came in the twelfth over when skipper Jake Fraser McGurk took a triple hat-trick (five wickets in a row) to destroy WA’s spirits.

In an even team performance, Kevin Seth bowled fast and batted beautifully while Ben Lammardo calmly went about his business accumulating runs at will and Tahj Johnston showed true grit after being struck by the big WA fast bowler to continue batting and help win the first skin of the match.

The Under-16 boys remain undefeated on seven wins and look certain to finish in top spot.

In the girls division, the under-18s (Blue) top the table with eight wins and one loss, just ahead of Queensland and New South Wales also on eight wins and one loss.

It’s a very close competition but the Victorian girls should remain in first position going into the finals tomorrow.

The girls have had even contributions from Jessica Adams and Sophie Jennings with the ball while Eloise Gardiner has been driving the ball very hard to the back court and Emma Medland has shown great skill with her placement and speed between the wickets.

The Under-18 boys remain in fifth position but must beat the Australian Capital Territory and NSW and also need ACT to lose their other remaining fixture to make finals.

Live streaming of the tournament starts from 9am Friday with the first of three major finals starting at 2.15pm.

The Victorians will have three teams playing in the semi for a place in the grand final.
