Boxing Day Test tickets to be released

A limited number of tickets to the Australian international cricket season against England will go on sale from 9am tomorrow (16/10).

The response to the initial ticket release exceeded the corresponding period in 2010-11 when The Ashes was last played in Australia, with the up-coming series generating a 30% increase in sales.

Boxing Day at the MCG has seen huge ticket sales and is likely to sell out in advance of the match, with sales for the second and third day also strong.

1,600 additional tickets for Boxing Day will go on sale tomorrow across all categories, giving fans the opportunity to purchase fantastic seats for what will be the biggest day of the summer.

Cricket Australia’s Executive General Manager Operations, Mike McKenna, said the new release of tickets is a chance for even more fans to witness the famous rivalry between Australia and England.

“With the excitement for The Commonwealth Bank Ashes Series building we are expecting these tickets to be snapped up quickly by fans eager to witness the great sporting rivalry between Australia and England,” Mr McKenna said.

“As well as the Commonwealth Bank Ashes Series, there are also tickets available for the Carlton Mid One Day International Series and KFC T20 INTL Series matches, so fans can enjoy watching Australia take on England in all forms of the game.”

The Carlton Mid One Day Series will bring back Summer’s Biggest Dress Up Party and also mark the start of preparations for the Australian team as it gets ready to host the 2015 ICC World Cup the following summer.

The KFC T20 INTL matches could see an influx of young families in the stands as the new Bring the Kids For Free* incentive is launched.

Given the strong demand for tickets, Cricket Australia is ramping up its efforts against scalping and identifying where tickets are being sold by scalpers.

Following the initial ticket release, Cricket Australia has cancelled a large number of scalper tickets, and these are included in this latest ticket release.

Tickets purchased from scalpers will be cancelled and anyone holding a ticket bought from a scalper will be refused entry at the admission gates.

Fans are advised to only purchase tickets from authorised ticketing agencies, Ticketek and Ticketmaster.

Don’t miss your chance to witness the biggest rivalry in world sport.
