The 鈥楪 to host Ashes matches

The Southern Stars and England will play two one-day internationals at the ‘G on January 19 and 23, as well as a Twenty20 international on January 31 which will be played as a double-header with the men.

A tour match featuring England and an Australian XI will also be held in Melbourne preceding the Ashes series on January 17.

The Southern Stars will compete across all three formats, with the home Ashes series to feature a Test in Perth, three ODIs and three T20Is.

The winner of each match accrues points based on a weighting-system to determine which team will raise the women’s Ashes trophy at the end of the series.

“This will be the first time the women’s Ashes Series will be played in Australia according to the new point’s format, so each match will be vital in determining who will claim the women’s Ashes trophy,” Cricket Australia CEO James Sutherland said.

“The Commonwealth Bank Southern Stars’ recent success has captured the attention of the public and I’m sure cricket fans all over the country will be tuning in as our female cricketers continue the Ashes battle during the T20s on Channel 9 this summer.

“We have enjoyed a long partnership with Channel 9 that has led the way in Australian sports coverage and we are thrilled to expand our national free-to-air coverage into women’s cricket this summer.”
