Thomas has been the organisation’s Chairman since 2015 and a Director for nine years.
“It has been a fantastic nine years and I’d like to thank my fellow Directors both past and present, together with our management, members, clubs, fans and players for their support of Victorian cricket,” Thomas said.
“There have been many highlights over that journey – five Sheffield Shield titles, the introduction of the BBL and WBBL and the recent completion of the new CitiPower Centre at Junction Oval in St Kilda. With that in mind, now is the right time to allow others to guide Cricket Victoria through the next chapter of its history.”
Mr Thomas most recently oversaw the appointment of Andrew Ingleton as Cricket Victoria’s new Chief Executive.
“It is appropriate, and in line with good governance principles, that we allow opportunities for ongoing renewal at Board level. The organisation has a world-class boutique venue with state of the art training and administration facilities for our teams. I know the organisation will continue to forge a path towards success and growth,” Mr Thomas said.
Mr Thomas will continue in his current role until the AGM.
