All double headers will be broadcast live on Channel Nine.
The double-headers are lined up at the MCG on Friday, February 17 and at Geelong’s Kardinia Park on Sunday, February 19.
Victorian Minister for Tourism and Major Events John Eren said: “We’re making history today. An International Twenty20 blockbuster is another stunning win for Geelong.”
“There’s nothing quite as inspiring as watching our cricketing heroes in action. This is a great chance for locals to watch the best of the best in their own backyard and for visitors to see all this region has to offer.”
Geelong will play host to international cricket for the first time, becoming the 11th venue in Australia currently accredited to host international cricket.
The announcement completes the schedule for the 2016-17 international summer of cricket, and Cricket Victoria CEO Tony Dodemaide said he was thrilled to see Geelong make its debut on the international cricket stage.
“It’s a fantastic opportunity for Victorian cricket fans to see both the men’s and women’s Australian T20 teams in two double-header fixtures in February,” said Dodemaide.
“After successfully hosting tour matches in recent seasons, we’re delighted to see Geelong host an international fixture and become another ICC-accredited venue in Australian cricket.
“This is also a great outcome for communities on the Bellarine Peninsula and the wider Western region and a chance for families to see their heroes in action close to home.”
Tickets to the KFC T20INTL Series will go on sale to the General Public from Friday, September 2.
