The touring South Africa side will head to Melbourne to take on a Victorian XI on 19-20 November.
The two day, day/night fixture will also be a pink ball match and provide important preparation before the third Commonwealth Bank Test in Adelaide which begins on 24 November.
The MCG last hosted an historic day-night fixture with the pink ball in October last year, when the Commonwealth Bank Bushrangers played the Queensland Bulls in the opening round of the 2015-16 Sheffield Shield season.
Cricket Victoria Chairman of Selectors Andrew Lynch said the tour match would be good chance for Victorian players to face off against an experienced South African side.
“It’s a great opportunity for our wider squad of Victorian players to have the chance to play against some of South Africa’s best players,” Lynch said.
“This will also be the only time the South African squad will play in Melbourne over the summer so I’d certainly encourage all cricket fans to get along to the MCG and see them in action.”
The two-day tour match takes place between the Hobart and Adelaide Tests, and will begin on Saturday, November 19 and run through until Sunday night.
