Victorian cricket welcomes State Budget investment

Whether it be a Woolworths Cricket Blast registration, junior club registration, cricket gear or club uniform, the Get Active Kids Voucher Program will give families who need it most the opportunity to have these costs covered, up to $200. We look forward to providing more information on this program as it comes to hand.

The extended Sporting Club Grants Program will provide the opportunity to further improve the capacity and accessibility of Victorian cricket clubs and other community sport and recreation organisations.

In terms of infrastructure, cricket was a beneficiary of the first round of this year’s Community Sports Infrastructure Stimulus Program (Round 1) including three new ovals at Clyde Recreational Reserve in Melbourne’s south east and a new oval as part of the Debneys Park Redevelopment to name just two projects. A further $110 million has been allocated by the Victorian Government for Round 2 of the program and CV looks forward to working with the Victorian Government to identify further projects that will benefit cricket in Victoria.

In line with CV’s strategic plan, the budget also provides opportunities for clubs to be more accessible through the funding for Female Friendly facility upgrades, and a sports field lighting program.

Community and high performance cricket will also be a beneficiary of significant infrastructure funding commitments made to the Mildura South Regional Sports Precinct and Stage 5 of the Kardinia Park Redevelopment.
