Last week Cricket Victoria celebrated the Holy month of Ramadan by hosting its annual Iftar dinner, alongside members of the community. In attendance were a range of community leaders, Board members, Victorian Government, Victorian police, Victorian Multicultural Commission, Cricket Australia, and Cricket Victoria staff who came together to promote and develop cultural understanding.
The evening was hosted by Belinda Duarte (CEO, Culture is Life) and spoke to her experience as a descendant of the Wotjobaluk people. Guest speakers also included Melissa Hale and Morteza Ali who both shared their moving stories about cricket as a vehicle to overcome hardship and their place to feel supported and welcomed.
