The course is aimed at teaching coaches the basic skills of coaching, from how to run drills to how to interact with players.
At the end of the sessions the attendees received their community coaching accreditation, something Multicultural Participation Coordinator Hussain Hanif said he was proud of.
“It was great to see over fifty new coaches attend the two community coaching courses, including a great number of females,” Hanif said.
“Introducing the coaches to the new junior formats and learning new skills and drills to grow the game in Multicultural communities.
“I think it is important to have more Multicultural coaches coming through the system because there are different areas in terms of what the coach does.
“From being a role model for the community to inspiring and motivating the next generation to play and enjoy cricket as much as possible, coaches are vital to the community.”
Kashif Khan, an attendee at the Monash University course, said he wanted to take the next step with his coaching.
“I have coached for many years but never had any formal cricket accreditation,” Khan said.
“I felt I needed to take my coaching to another level, learn new skills, ideas and pick up from professionals in the game and I want to go back to my club coaches and volunteers to share my knowledge and grow the game.”
Molina Asthana, an attendee at the La Trobe Uni course, said she learnt a lot of new skills at the session.
“It was great, informative and fun,” Asthana said.
“I learnt the basics of the game, the rules, the spirt of the game, how to be a good coach, safety in the game, team spirit, values that cricket upholds and how to keep children engaged and encourage them as a coach.”
