NICL 2018

NICL 2018 Season Preview

Following the success of the competition in its inaugural season last year, the NICL has further strengthened with four new teams entering the 2018 competition in Victoria.

The Victoria West Men’s zone are boosted by the inclusion of a second Geelong franchise, the Geelong Jets, who will kick off their campaign against cross-town rivals the Supercats on Sunday afternoon. The zone also welcomes Albury Warriors to the competition, who will make the long journey down the Hume Highway on Saturday afternoon for a double-header against the Northcote pairing Knights and Pirates.

In a major coup for the NICL, Cricket Southern Bayside will enter a Men’s representative team into the Victoria East Men’s zone.

Head of Cricket Southern Bayside Warren Griffin said the launch of the Indoor team was “a crucial step in demonstrating to the wider cricket community that CSB is more than just an outdoor cricket competition.”

A second Victorian Premier Cricket club will also enter the NICL this season with Essendon Maribyrnong Park joining the Victoria West Women’s competition for 2018.

Cricket Victoria Indoor Cricket Manager Ross Gregory was excited by the inclusion of all four new teams.

“It is a great endorsement for Indoor Cricket in Victoria that we can attract new players and teams to our competitions.”

The competition will again be highlighted with weekly Live-Stream matches and a share in over $50,000 in prize money for zone and national champions.
