Expression of interest for 2015-16 Premier club open

Any entity be it group, consortium, club or association from within the existing membership of CV or one of its affiliates, is entitled to submit the Expression of Interest to be the proposed new club to complete in the Premier Cricket competition.

To lodge an expression of interest, an entity is required to do as follows:

  • Provide a formal expression of interest letter signed by the President of the entity detailing on behalf of its members a desire to be the proposed new club to compete in the Premier Cricket competition from the 2015-16 season.
  • Accept the Terms and Conditions regarding the CV Bartercard Premier Cricket application process.  The Terms and Conditions must be signed where indicated and returned to CV with the above expression of interest letter.
  • Provide a letter of support from the entity’s relevant local government signed by the CEO or Mayor detailing the support of the application and desire to work with the entity and CV if the application is successful; and
  • Other supporting documentation as desired and considered relevant by the entity.

Cricket Victoria CEO Tony Dodemaide said support from a whole community was crucial in the success of a Premier club.

“The establishment and sustainability of a Premier Club needs many resources and buy-in from stakeholders around their area, much more so than a regular community club,” Dodemaide said.

“It needs that support network around it to make it work.

“Traditionally, Sub-District clubs have been the logical options in the past for new Premier clubs or amalgamations.

“But having said that, North Melbourne went up north and got together with Greenvale, a successful senior VTCA club.

“It’s early days but the fundamentals are pretty good and we expect the club to have a strong future.”

The process for expression of interest follows the approved merger between Dandenong and Hawthorn-Monash University following the current season.

More information on that amalgamation can be found here.
