During the off-season each year, Cricket Victoria conducts a series of umpiring lectures dubbed “The Winter Classes”.
These classes are aimed at providing umpires with in-depth and theoretical knowledge of the the MCC Laws of Cricket.
This year’s classes incorporate the 2022 updates to the MCC Laws of Cricket which come into effect from 1 October 2022.
The Winter Classes will be held on 12, 19 and 26 July 2022 with the exam date currently to be confirmed.
These Winter Classes are attended by all Premier umpires. The sessions are accessible, will be held via Microsoft Teams, and are delivered by experienced facilitators with state and national panel experience.
Cricket Victoria generally recruits for the Premier Cricket Umpires Panel from the Winter Classes program.
There is an optional exam to test your understanding and knowledge of the Laws of Cricket to be held at the conclusion of this program. This exam is compulsory for those wishing to join the Premier Panel.
