Victoria keep WNCL final hopes alive

After winning the toss and again electing to bowl first, Ellyse Perry made early inroads to the Tasmanian top order to leave the hosts reeling at 3-27.

Corinne Hall steadied her side with a composed 42, but the Tigers again lost three quick wickets to find themselves at 6-95.

After a brief rain delay, Maisy Gibson produced a late cameo belting 57* from just 40 balls to push her side to 7-197 from 43 overs.

Perry was the standout with 3-17 from nine overs, while Molly Strano (2-45) also had a good day with the ball.

Sophie Molineux and Elyse Villani got Victoria ahead of the DLS par score early, putting on their third opening partnership of 50 runs or more in the last four matches.

When Molineux and Meg Lanning were dismissed in the space of three overs, the game tightened up before rain intervened. With no more play possible, the match was called off with Victoria two runs ahead of the DLS par score after 17 completed overs.

The win puts Victoria third on the WNCL ladder with two more rounds to play, one win behind top two sides Western Australia and New South Wales.
