Victorian Men's Cricket Team

Handscomb, Kellaway and Perry selected for Australia A

The side includes Victorians Peter Handscomb, Campbell Kellaway and Mitch Perry.

Handscomb is currently part of Australia’s Test squad in India, while it is a first Australia A call up for Kellaway and Perry.

Kellaway has only played five FC matches for Victoria but impressed with a century against the touring South African side in December for the Cricket Australia XI.

Mitch Perry has been in red hot form since the Sheffield Shield resumed, taking 19 wickets in three matches.

NSP Chair of Selectors George Bailey said the squad was selected with a mix of senior and developing young players.

“The squad contains some experienced, strong performers in state cricket, along with several emerging players we believe have exciting futures ahead of them,” Bailey said.

The squad will play New Zealand A in Lincoln in New Zealand’s Canterbury region with the Dukes ball and in conditions designed to replicate those found in England.

Australia will then host New Zealand for two four-day matches and three one-day games in Brisbane later this year.

Players with upcoming County Cricket deals were not considered for selection as they will already be subject to English conditions prior to the Ashes.
