The aim of the camp was to not only help the new squad bond and build resilience, but to also develop a deeper understanding and respect towards those who serve to protect Australia.

Activities included the “School of S’s” (School of Survivability and Ship Safety – SSSS) which involved tackling fires and smoke navigation drills, as well as a sinking ship exercise where the squad had to plug holes before the hull filled to the roof.

Players were divided into two teams across the three day camp, taking part in several activities that tested both their physical and mental strength.

Bronze Medallion and survival swim challenges, rock climbing, a sandpit obstacle course and the infamous mud run rounded out the three day camp.

Cricket Victoria and the entire team would like to thank Bravery Trust for their help in facilitating our visit to HMAS Cerberus, as well as the Royal Australian Navy for their hospitality during our stay.

Bravery Trust was launched in 2012 to address the critical gap in assistance of Australian veterans with a primary goal of providing financial assistance to both current and former service men and women who suffer from mental or physical injury or illness as a result of their service.

To date, Bravery trust has provided more than $3.4 million in financial assistance to those in need. If you would like to find out more or contribute, please visit their website here.
