The Victorians will face the ACT Meteors at the CitiPower Centre for their first game since 19 December.

Nicole Faltum will captain the side for the first time. Faltum debuted in the 2017-18 season and was last month part of the Australia A squad who faced England.

Meg Lanning, Ellyse Perry and Annabel Sutherland are in New Zealand for the Women’s World Cup, while Sophie Molineux, Tayla Vlaeminck and Georgia Wareham are recovering from injuries.

Head Coach Jarrad Loughman said:

“Nicole’s coming off some strong performances in our opening matches and we’ve seen her leadership grow over the last few seasons. She’s gained tremendous experience working closely with Meg Lanning and also through exposure to quality competition in WNCL and WBBL cricket,” Loughman said.

“We’re excited to see how Nicole leads the side with the support of some of our experienced players for our upcoming matches.

“With all of our Australian-contracted players unavailable, it gives us a great opportunity to test the depth of our squad and provides the chance for some of our younger players to showcase their skills.

“We’ve seen some strong performances this season in Premier Cricket, Victorian exhibition matches and in the WBBL, so we’re hoping some of that form and confidence can be carried into the WNCL.”
