WBBL Stars return to bolster Maddie’s Vision T20

The charity helps to fund medical research into finding a cure for bone marrow failure syndromes.

The special clash will be fueled by the return of a string WBBL stars.

True Blues skipper and in-form Emma Inglis will look to replicate the form that she and Alana King have had for the Melbourne Stars in the opening fixture. Inglis hit a 79-metre six out of North Sydney Oval on Saturday night, as she racked up the runs at a faster pace than her skipper and the Mustangs captain – Meg Lanning. Inglis eventually fell for an explosive 46 off just 28, which included eight fours and that almighty six.

Yet to show her full potential in the WBBL, but a player surely set to fire soon, is former Southern Star Jess Cameron. In the second match she hit 36 off 39, and on home turf don’t be surprised if she dominates the attack.

King starred with two key wickets in the Stars’ season opener, which wicketkeeper Inglis had a hand in. The pair will be hoping for more stumpings on Wednesday.

The other True Blue representing the Stars is left-arm quick Gemma Triscari who claimed 13 wickets in the inaugural WBBL and this season has picked up two, including the big scalp of Stefanie Taylor in their second match.

A second allrounder to watch out for is the 15-year-old Annabel Sutherland, who is currently the youngest player in WBBL|02, playing for the Melbourne Renegades. Sutherland has had a good season for the True Blues scoring 198 runs at 49.50 in the one day competition and in her only club T20, she hit an unbeaten 42.

Box Hill will welcome the return of Meg Lanning, as they hope she can pick up where she left off in the first game of the season where she hit 33 off 28. The skipper enjoyed her typically great summer, including a top score of 190 in the WNCL, which saw her break the high score record of the tournament – unsurprisingly it was her own record which she broke.

Younger sister Anna has also had a good season at the club, and a stint in England playing county cricket for Warwickshire has seemed to advanced her game. Her top score of 77 not out off 67 came in a T20 against Ringwood.

Katie Mack has produced two important knocks for the Stars in the opening games against Sydney Thunder of 30 and 26, showing she has the ability to accumulate and also run hard between the wickets as the batters look to get maximum reward for their shots.

Morna Nielsen will be hoping to replicate her 18 wickets at an average of just 11 in last year’s WBBL and her economical bowling.

Another Star who is yet to pull on the green in the WBBL is Hayleigh Brennan. The young quick made her WNCL debut this season, claiming three wickets and will be hoping to impression Wednesday ahead of the next round of WBBL.

With gates opening at 4:30pm for a 6:30pm start, tonight will be a fantastic opportunity to see some of the Stars of the WBBL shine once more. So head down to Toorak Park to watch an exciting, boundary-filled top-of-the-ladder clash and support a great charity.
