Ashton and Lamb ones to watch

Ashton, a promising leg-spinner from Ringwood, starred in the Twenty20 format, claiming 3-30 against North Melbourne and 4-19 when the Rams played Carlton last month.

In his first full season in the Ringwood 1st XI, Ashton has picked up 20 wickets at an average of 16.4 and will be a part of the Victorian Under-19 side at the National Championships next month.

Lamb has impressed in her first season with the Commonwealth Bank VicSpirit, having opened the bowling in the recent WT20 match against Tasmanian Roar.

The left-armer had an impressive all-round game for Plenty Valley against Melbourne last month, smashing 36 (34) opening the batting then claiming 4-14.

Introduced in 2005-06, the award is presented each season to the best under-19 Victorian male and female player based on the their form at Premier Cricket level and in National Championships, with nominations selected by a panel of committee members on a monthly basis. 

The winners of the Commonwealth Bank Future Star Award will be crowned at the Cricket Victoria Gala night in April.
