Bushrangers Championships reach QFs

Following a strong win over Western Waves, Central Highlands will hope to keep its unbeaten record intact when it faces Gippsland Pride at Melbourne University today.

A strong bowling performance from the Highlanders restricted the Waves to just 135 yesterday, and despite losing seven wickets, they chased down the total comfortably.

The Pride will be looking to continue their momentum after defeating North East Knights in a winner- take-all affair.

In the other country quarter-final, Barwon Rockets will take on South East Sharks following big wins to both regions yesterday.

In the metro half of the draw, an exciting win to Inner East Emus was not enough to win through to today’s ‘live’ quarter-finals.

The Emus chased down Western Spirit’s 142 with just two overs remaining, but was left in third position in Group C with an inferior net run rate.

Despite the loss, the Spirit still won the right to host South East Bayside Breakers in the first of today’s quarter-finals.

The Breakers went down to an undefeated Outer East Eagles outfit, which was admirably led by Victorian under-17 representative Jack Blain.

Blain, who took 2-29 before amassing 82 in the Eagles’ 5-203, sits second on the competition run-scorers’ tally, with Western Wave Luke Merryful the only player to have score more.

The winners of today’s fixtures will play in tomorrow’s semi-finals, while the campaigns for the remainder of the teams will end for another season.
