Grimwade, Parsons and Short head to Cricket Australia Spin Camp

Sam Grimwade, Matt Short and Blake Parsons will attend the high-performance program alongside 21 other spinners from other states at Cricket Australia’s elite training facility.

Right-arm off spinner Grimwade started the 2014-15 season with a brilliant series for the Australian under-19s in an away tour to Sri Lanka when he claimed 12 wickets in four matches.

He represented Victoria at both the Under-17 and Under-19 National Championships and cemented his position in Prahran’s first XI in Bartercard Premier Cricket where he picked up 10 scalps in seven games.

The highlight of Grimwade’s season was when he lined up for the Cricket Australia XI in a tour match against India and captured the wicket of middle-order batsman Ajinkya Rahane.

Fellow offie Short was also selected in that tour match and claimed the wicket of Indian maestro Virat Kohli, as well as Ravi Ashwin.

Short made his Victorian one-day debut this season while also bowling in the powerplay for the Melbourne Renegades in two matches in BBL|04.

Left-arm orthodox spinner Parsons impressed on a tour of Sri Lanka with the Australian under-16 schoolboys team last year and has improved ever since.

He was a member of the Victorian under-17 side and has been learning from former Victorian spinner Bryce McGain at their Premier Club, Prahran.

In addition to McGain, Victorian coaches Ray Bright and Jarrad Loughman will also be involved in the camp that runs from May 11 to 15.
