Earlier today, Cricket Victoria confirmed that the series would be held in conjunction with the Commonwealth Bank VicSpirit’s training camp in north east Victoria, with 24 of the state’s finest players pressing their selection claims for the up-coming Under-18 National Championships.
VicSpirit coach Barry Neivandt said the timing of the series was perfect with the under-18 players to be exposed to the likes of Southern Stars representatives Jess Cameron, Julie Hunter, Elyse Villani and Sarah Elliot.
“It will be great to have the Under-18 girls running parallel with the VicSpirit,” Neivandt said.
“They’ll be able to spend plenty of time interacting with each other and seeing how the VicSpirit prepare, as well as mentoring the girls.
“It should be a fantastic series.”
The Under-18 Country v Metro Series will feature a 50-over match on Saturday before two Twenty20s on Sunday ahead of the National Championships in Ballarat from January 15 to 21.
