After losing the toss and being sent in to field, Victoria made a promising start, striking early and claiming 4-11.
A half-century from William Fort revived NSW’s innings, however, an outstanding bowling performance from Sam Ramsay saw the visitors dismissed for 152.
Having opened the bowling, Ramsay completed his eight overs with 6-25, while Dylan Tibballs (1-13), Nivin Sathyajith (1-19), Fergus O’Neill (1-26) and John Britton (1-10) also contributed.
The second innings saw NSW start in a similar fashion to Victoria, claiming 3-30.
However, another strong partnership from O’Neill (53) and Ash Chandrasinghe (29) saw Victoria steady the ship.
Requiring a run-a-ball from the last nine overs, some aggressive batting from Caleb Serong (15) saw Victoria reach 156 to claim the win with an over to spare.
“I could not be prouder of the boys fighting spirit and the way that they all played a role in such a satisfying victory,” Victorian coach Dave Gallacher said.
In the girls’ division, the Victorian teams faced each other in the local derby.
After 35 overs, Victoria set a total of 3-202, with Teagan Brett notching a half-century before retiring.
Scarlett Saxon-Jones (28) and Courtney Aughtie (20) also provided handy contributions in Victoria’s innings.
However, some potent bowling from Victoria’s attack kept the Invitational team from reaching their target, with Macy Brereton top-scoring on 32.
Lucy Cripps led the Victorian attack, claiming 3-10 from seven overs to help her team claim victory.
Round four will commence tomorrow with the Victorian boys facing Queensland, the girls facing NSW and the Invitational team facing the ACT.
