Victorian girls take third

Having won the toss and elected to bat, Victoria’s openers, Annabel Sutherland (51) and Rosie Wynd (24), put the team in good stead, combining for a 75-run partnership, before retiring not out.

Victoria continued to pile on the runs with Madeline Stirling (51) and Lucy Cripps (51) also contributing with half-centuries and leading the team to a total of 251.

In reply, the Victorians struck early, with four of the ACT’s top-order batters being dismissed for naught.

Stirling (2-0), Teagan Brett (2-3) and Amelia Reilly (2-6) led the bowling attack, restricting the ACT to 42 and cementing third position in the competition.

The Victorian Invitational team completed its tournament in fifth position after being defeated by Queensland.

After winning the toss and electing to bat, Queensland were off to a good start with openers Jamie Mills (50) and Charli Knott (33) combining for a 75-run partnership.

Despite Victoria’s bowling attack sharing the wickets, a handy 30-run knock from Renee Irvine saw Queensland complete their innings on 6-183.

In return, the Invitational team lost quick wickets, with their openers being dismissed for 2-11.

Keira Morley (21) and Alannah Dahlsen (17) combined to lift the run rate, however, Queensland’s bowling attack proved too strong, restricting the Invitational team to 5-80 after 35 overs.
