A stalwart at Windy Hill, Mr Hare captained Essendon’s fourth XI before moving into club and association administration.
He was President of the Essendon Cricket Club and the Metropolitan Cricket League for many years and served as a CV Delegate for 22 seasons, receiving Life Membership in 2006 following his retirement.
Mr Hare was also a Life Member of the Essendon Cricket Club and Essendon Football Club, working closely with coaches Mark Williams, Denis Pagan and Neale Daniher during his tenure as football manager of the thirds and seconds.
With a keen interest in junior cricket, Mr Hare spent more than two decades promoting the Under-17 and Under-19 State Championships.
“Ron was a fine servant of the sport,” CV Chairman Geoff Tamblyn said.
“He always acted in the best interests of the Essendon Cricket Club and he will be sorely missed.”
Cricket Victoria extends its deepest condolences to the Hare family and the Essendon Cricket Club.
