In2Sport Brimbank

With applications opening on September 1, the membership subsidy program provides an opportunity for children living in the Brimbank area to actively participate in cricket.

Commonwealth Bank Bushranger James Pattinson and VicSpirit opener Elyse Villani joined Cricket Victoria Chief Executive Officer Tony Dodemaide and members of Brimbank City Council, including Council Administrator Jane Nathan, to launch the In2Sport Brimbank program in front of 85 students.

Dodemaide acknowledged that the program would assist in getting more children involved in cricket.

“For the 2013-14 season, Victoria was the leading cricket participation state in Australia,” Dodemaide said.

“Cricket is a game for everyone and thanks to Brimbank City Council and the Victorian Government, the In2Sport Brimbank program will help to increase participation opportunities for junior cricketers.

“With the excitement of the Cricket World Cup just around the corner, the program assists in reducing barriers and ensures that children in the Brimbank area have the chance to play cricket.”

Chair of Brimbank Administrators John Watson also noted the advantageous partnership between the two organisations.

“We’re very happy to have the added support of Cricket Victoria which has committed up to $8000 funding specifically to boost cricket club participation in Brimbank,” Watson said.

“We are also hoping to attract more junior cricket clubs to become involved in the program so we are able to offer more cricketing opportunities for local kids.”

In2Sport Brimbank applicants are eligible for up to $200 financial assistance to contribute to club fees, provided children are aged between six and 18 years, live in Brimbank and whose family holds either a Health Care Card or Pension Concession Card.
