Jags Premier League Final

Having started with 16 teams, the round-robin Twenty20 tournament sees Soorya and the Tigers as the last two standing clubs after preliminary final victories over the Melbourne Warriors and Wyhndham Jags, respectively.

In its first year, the JPL, pioneered by Wyndham Jags Cricket Club, has created an opportunity for teams from the South Asian community to play together in a structured competition with support from Cricket Victoria, the Wyndham City Council and the Western Suburbs United Churches Cricket Association.

JPL tournament Director Jay Mohan Padmanabhan noted that the tournament has helped to provide players with the chance to continue their cricket development over winter.

“We’ve seen a lot of talent come through the tournament so hopefully the JPL can act as a stepping stone and provide these guys with a platform to move forward,” Padmanabhan said.

Padmanabhan also acknowledged the importance of the volunteers, giving endless hours to make the tournament a success.

“I would like to thank the Wyndham Jags committee and all of the volunteers involved in the JPL,” Padmanabhan said.

“Without the volunteers, the JPL wouldn’t have happened.”

The Melbourne Renegades’ Matthew Wade will be in attendance at the JPL Grand Final tomorrow along with Renegades mascot Sledge and the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 countdown clock.

Wyndham Jags MILO in2CRICKET registraitions will also be open on the day with a range of children’s activities being held including face painting, a bowling tunnel and more.

Play will commence at 9:30 am tomorrow at Lawrie Emmins Reserve in Laverton North.
