Victorian cricket volunteers and staff awarded Change our Game scholarships

Ms Hale, who is an active member of the Victorian deaf and hard of hearing community, returned to cricket over the last 2 years and has been a key driver of participation in Flemington and Kensington in Melbourne’s inner north.

Since the scholarship program was introduced in 2018 more than 140 Victorian women working and volunteering across all levels of the sport and recreation sector have been given access to a range of professional development opportunities and training courses.

Scholarships range from $2,000 to $10,000 for individuals while eligible organisations may also apply for funding for group training or professional development worth up to $10,000.

Minister for Community Sport Ros Spence MP said, “these new scholarships are helping to level the playing field for Victorian women and girls across all tiers of sport and recreation. As we start to rebuild from the coronavirus pandemic and community sport gets back on its feet, programs like this are vital as we champion gender equality in the community.”

Volunteer Heidi Sutherland and CV staff members Lisa Comben and Sharon Lynas were also successful applicants for the program.

The scholarships are supported by Change Our Game, an initiative of the Victorian Government. For more information about the program, please visit changeourgame.vic.gov.au
