Women in Sport Breakfast goes online in 2020

The annual event will focus on the positives for women in sport including the success of the Australian Women’s Cricket Team in the ICC T20 Women’s World Cup as well as the successful bid for the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup.

This is the seventh consecutive year Gymnastics have hosted the breakfast on behalf of the Victorian sporting community and although it will be a little different this year in an online format, we look forward to a great event.

The 2020 Women in Sport Breakfast will take place online via zoom on the morning of Friday 9 October, once again tying in with the International Day of the Girl on 11 October. Victoria University are the Major Sponsor of the online event with the morning focusing on how sport has adapted to COVID-19 as well as celebrating some of the successes for women’s sport during the year.

Victoria University’s Deputy Vice-Chancellor of Research, Professor Corinne Reid, will look at the role sport plays to strengthen communities and how the sporting mindset adapts to cope with challenges like COVID-19. Corinne will draw on her professional experience as a former team psychologist for England Rugby and Australia’s Hockeyroos and Kookaburras.

The event will also focus on the positives of the 2020 sporting year for women in sport including the success of the Australian’s Women’s Cricket Team in the ICC T20 Women’s World Cup along with the successful bid for the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup to be hosted by Australia and New Zealand.

We look forward to having Jane Fernandez, GM of the FIFA World Cup Bid, join us as well as an Australian Women’s Cricketer.

To keep the tradition of the breakfast event alive, the morning will also begin with an optional breakfast making tutorial with a chef. There will also be other elements of connectedness incorporated into the event.

Tickets are avilable to be purchased here.
