Cricket Victoria supports junior cricket competitions with ball program

Cricket Victoria will be providing more than 1,300 cricket balls across the state to support these competitions that form an important part of the junior cricket pathway.

“The ball program goes a long way to supporting the junior cricket pathway across Victoria” Cricket Victoria General Manager Community Cricket Rohan O’Neill said.

“Underage representative competitions play a critical role in delivering the Victorian cricket strategy. The ball program supports volunteers in delivering junior cricket competitions in January and increased opportunities for talented cricketers across the state.”

Greg Cruickshank, President of the Swan Hill District Cricket Association in the Mallee Murray region said the Cricket Victoria Ball Program ensures their representative competition can continue to run.

“Junior Country Week provides our youngsters the opportunity to play at a higher level against the best in their respective age group from other Associations.”

“The provision of balls for the Junior Country Week competition by Cricket Victoria is an enormous cost saving and certainly adds to the affordability for associations, clubs and families and we are grateful to Cricket Victoria for their continued support of Junior Country Week in our Region.”

The cricket balls provided by Cricket Victoria will help support associations implementing the recommended Junior Formats.

The Victorian Metropolitan Cricket Union has adopted the Stage 2 Representative Junior Formats across their Under-12 representative competitions.

The Junior Formats have seen great results across Victorian junior cricket with 24 per cent more boundaries scored, 4 per cent more wickets taken and 15 per cent less wides and no balls bowled across both Stage One and Stage Two.
