Victoria on finals target

With finals looming, the Victorian Open men’s and women’s teams both sit second while in the Lord’s Taverners division, Victoria is in pole position.

With five wins and two losses, the Open men’s team has only suffered losses against last year’s premiers Queensland, with Geoff Lathem and Justin Perkins sitting in the division top three rankings for Most Valuable Player.

The Victorian Open women’s team has accumulated three win and two losses with only one point and percentage separating the top three teams being Victoria, Queensland and South Australia.

Losing two tight games to South Australia, Danielle Montague tops the table for the Most Valuable Player in the women’s division.

In the Lord’s Taverners division Victoria sits on top of the ladder ahead of Queensland on percentage with both sides recording five wins and one loss.

In his 17th Open Championships, Craig Whitehand has again shined for Victoria, smashing 137 runs, while Shane Collins and Jarrod Connelly have also contributed significantly.

While in the Under-20’s the Victorian men’s team is finding the going tough and is yet to record a victory, with the women’s team recording two wins from six starts.

The Australian Open Indoor Cricket Championships Finals begin Friday and will be live streamed.

All tournament fixtures and results can be found on the Indoor Cricket Championships website.
