Cricket Victoria and Kookaburra extend long-term relationship

Established in Melbourne in 1890 by AG Thompson, Kookaburra is 100% Australian owned and operated and is led to this day by fourth and fifth generation Thompson family members.

Each year Kookaburra supplies cricket balls used in competitions across the state at every level of the game.

In a testament to the history of both organisations, Cricket Victoria and Kookaburra first signed a partnership agreement in 1937.

Kookaburra will continue to be the naming rights partner of the Victorian Premier Cricket competition and partner of community cricket.

Kookaburra is proud to support players at all levels of the pathway – from the state’s elite players to Premier Cricket through to pathway cricket.

Cricket Victoria General Manager – Consumer Business Toby Williams said the renewal would help foster further growth and development for the game in Victoria from the grassroots and beyond.

“We’ve enjoyed a long and productive relationship with Kookaburra, and they consistently deliver quality products and outstanding service to the community and grassroots cricket,” Williams said.

“Kookaburra is an iconic organisation that is synonymous with our game. We look forward to working with them and building on the recent years of success,” Williams said.

Leigh Watts, Chief Sales and Marketing Officer said, “The work Cricket Victoria is doing to ensure a sustainable future for the game is vital and we’re really happy to play a part in supporting that.

“Extending our partnership with Cricket Victoria will mean better access to equipment and more funding for grassroots cricket.”
