Victorian Men's Cricket Team

Victoria name 16-player squad for Marsh Sheffield Shield and One-Day Cup games

Matthew Short has been included in the squad following his time in South Africa and India, including as a reserve for the World Cup Squad, while Marcus Harris has also been named after returning from parental leave.

Will Pucovski will miss the clash as part of managed approach to his return to First Class cricket.

Scott Boland will also be managed for the Sheffield Shield clash with Queensland, but has been included in the Marsh One-Day Cup squad for the following Wednesday.

Peter Siddle has been named for in both Marsh Cup and Sheffield Shield squads, while Will Pucovski will be managed for this weekend’s Sheffield Shield clash.

Victoria will be looking to bounce back after two losses to Western Australia last week in the Sheffield Shield and Marsh Cup in Perth.

Cricket Victoria’s Head of Male Cricket, David Hussey, said:

“Western Australia are a fantastic side and while we didn’t perform to the standard we were after, we can take plenty from the game and this is just another step in our journey.”

“We’re fortunate to have the opportunity to bounce back quickly against another quality side in Queensland, and are excited to welcome back some key members of our squad.

“It is exciting to welcome back Matt Short and Marcus Harris, two experienced players who are keen to get stuck into the Australian summer and push for international selection.

“We loved having Peter Siddle back with the team last week and it is great to have him in both the Marsh Cup and Sheffield Shield squads.

“Scott Boland won’t play in the Shield as we manage his workload but he’ll be in line to play in the Marsh Cup clash.

“We’ll continue to support Will Pucovski in his return to First Class Cricket. His health remains our priority.”
