In his first Sheffield Shield innings on the MCG, Stoinis piled on 170-runs against Tasmania, producing the highest score from a Bushranger since David Hussey’s 174 in November 2009.
With control and strong shot selection, the right-handed batsman’s knock included 22 boundaries and three sixes.
After a careful start, the number three batsman stepped out of first gear, showing composure and capitalising on his opportunities against spin.
Combining for a 190-run partnership with David Hussey, the highest third wicket stand of the Shield season, the pair led Victoria to first-innings points.
Following the dismissal of Hussey, Stoinis continued to lift the run rate and stretch Victoria’s lead, before being dismissed for 170.
Stoinis notched 324 runs at an average of 46.28 from his four Shield matches this season.
